Demolition and Decommissioning Services

Hayes Metals is able to plan and implement large-scale and complex demolition and deconstruction projects, even in sensitive or hard-to-reach locations.

Safely Executed, Precisely Delivered

Do you have a complex demolition or decommissioning project?
Hayes Metals has an enviable track record in successfully managing demolition and decommissioning projects of large and complex structures and in locations with environmental, historic or cultural sensitivity.

From closure studies to complex decommissioning execution, we can provide the technical, turnkey engineering solutions. We have a reputation for safety and efficiency, drawing on innovative processes to deliver exceptional recycling rates of all materials, not just metal.
The constraints of each project dictate our approach, and our experts can tailor a plan accordingly, advised by certified engineers where necessary. We can then manage all aspects of the work, including execution, health and safety, traffic management, subcontractors, rubbish removal and recycling. We also work with key stakeholders to ensure the project is managed with proper guidance from key stakeholders, including Iwi, Heritage New Zealand and key advisory groups.

Hayes Metals also undergoes regular and independent Pre-Qualification assessments of our Work Health & Safety policies, systems and processes by TOTIKA, +IMPAC and ISN organisations. This provides you with verified assurance that we take Health & Safety seriously and have the necessary systems and processes in place to safely manage your project.

Art Casting Alloys

Art Casting Alloys

The design of the artwork or the intended installation environment can often present challenges. Hayes Metals has the experience and expertise to collaborate with the artist or foundry to recommend the most suitable alloy or custom-tailor an alloy to meet the needs of all stakeholders, including the artist, foundry, and artwork owner.

Substation Decommissioning

Substation Decommissioning

Some of the equipment was situated in hard-to-reach areas, making a straightforward lift impractical. We employed our specialised equipment to construct rail tracks, enabling us to safely move the equipment from their locations to an area where we could then lift them using one of our crane trucks.

Scrap Metal

Scrap Metal

The project covered various aspects of collection, ranging from the use of simple scrap bins to handling large items that required individual loading with our crane-equipped trucks, through to the decommissioning and removal of transformers using our specialist equipment, which enabled complete disassembly and recycling within a fully bunded containment area.
